Woman Arrested For Transporting Children In Dog Kennels

A Tennessee grandmother was caught allegedly transporting her grandchildren in dog kennels in the trunk of her auto is now in the dog house.

Cheeks, 62 has been charged with two counts of child endangerment.

Temperatures in the area reached about 35 degrees Celsius.The mum is now facing charges of child endangerment.

The Memphis police affidavit told of the grandmother claiming there was no room inside her vehicle Saturday, instead telling the children to get inside the kennels.

A concerned citizen shot the video and forwarded it to the police.

Leimome Cheeks was apprehended by police after the children were spotted on Elvis Presley Boulevard, in Memphis, yesterday afternoon, Fox 17 News reports.

"It's shocking, it really is", Blake told WATN. I couldn't see her actually doing that.

"I think she needs some help".

"It's very sad. Because it feels like hell right here now, it's very hot", said Nikita Blake who is Cheeks neighbor. Neighbors are shocked. They say Leimome Cheeks is a very nice woman and they can't believe she did something like this. WATN said it attempted to contact Cheeks at her home over the weekend, but no one answered the door.

An affidavit states Cheeks admitted to putting the kids in the kennels and drove them from Whitehaven to Collierville then to Downtown Memphis, checking on them periodically.

The children were 7 and 8-years-old, according to Cleveland 19 News. She is set to appear in court on Monday, the station reported.
