Arsenal manager Emery: I've explained Ramsey importance to Gazidis

I want to become part of the club's history and to achieve great things here.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Mohamed Elneny will also be competing for spots, and any combination of the four could be deployed by Emery, although Guendouzi's age and lack of top-level football could see him further down the pecking order at the start of his Arsenal career.

After making a comeback into the side, he then missed the final four games of the season, reportedly because of his reluctance to sign a new deal with his then-contract expiring in July 2019 and other teams beginning to take an interest, with Arsenal having now won the race for his signature.

"I want to work with Petr Cech, with Bernd Leno, with Emiliano Martinez, with Matt Macey, with Ospina", he said.

Emery has been busy putting his stamp on Arsenal's squad for his debut campaign, with five players joining the club during the close-season.

"My idea is to know every player and to know, also, the personality of the players". We will only sign a player in the next month if he's a big opportunity.

"Not all the coaches have the same relationship with a player and I have my personality. We are also thinking about the players who were with us previous year and whether we need them to stay with us". But I don't give for him one post in the starting XI.

"He is a talented young player and a lot of clubs were interested in him".

"And also he explained to me the decision is not easy for him".

The claims had come as a surprise to many, with Ramsey expected to be a key member of Emery's squad from the moment he was confirmed as Arsene Wenger's successor.

He said: "We signed the players who we needed and only if one player is a big opportunity for us will we sign them".

"I have said to Ivan [Gazidis], Raul [Sanllehi] and Sven [Mislintat] that I think he is an important player for me".

Guendouzi, a France U20 global, said that Arsenal is his dream club, one that he wanted to play for since childhood.
