Britain's Prince Louis christened without Queen

Formerly of East Malling, Mr Pelly is thought to have asked the princes to be ushers at his wedding to Holiday Inn heiress Lizzy Wilson in 2014.

It was an occasion that brought out much of the Royal family, including Prince Charles and his wife Camilla and Prince Harry and his wife Meghan - the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

However, the 92-year-old queen and her husband Prince Philip were not among the guests.

During the ceremony, his seven godparents were also named, including Prince William's cousin Zara Tindall and many of their closest friends.

It was also revealed Monday that the Duke and Duchess had chosen two hymns, two lessons and two anthems for the christening.

Prince Louis' godparents most closely reflect the list of Princess Charlotte's godparents as there are no major royals on the list.

Yesterday Prince Louis became the eighth royal baby to be christened in the replica Honiton lace and white satin gown first used at the christening of James, Viscount Severn in 2008.

Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, the spiritual leader of the world's Anglicans, will lead the service in the Chapel Royal at St James's Palace.

(Charlotte's ceremony took place at St. Mary Magdalene Church, in Sandringham, instead.) Kate Middleton herself also received communion at the Chapel Royal just before her wedding to Prince William. A royal source said it had been agreed some time ago that the queen would not attend and her absence was not due to any health issues.

She kept her eye on the press pack as she and the rest of the family headed off for a private afternoon tea at Clarence House.
