George Clooney reportedly hurt in motorcycle crash in Italy

The 57-year-old actor, who is now filming a TV series on the Italian island, was understood to be driving to set when the incident occurred.

He is understood to have received treatment at John Paul II hospital, but NBC News report that he has since been discharged.

Oh no! George Clooney was rushed to the hospital after crashing into a auto on his scooter in Italy July 10. Responding Carabinieri officer Lt. Col. Alberto Cicognani told the Post that Clooney was thrown over the scooter's handlebars by the impact but told officers at the scene that he was "fine".

The driver of the other vehicle tended to Clooney until emergency workers arrived, local outlet La Nuova reported.

Amal Clooney reportedly rushed to his side while he was at the hospital.

George, 57, was reportedly found lying injured on the road, having badly hurt his pelvis and bruised both his arms and legs. Amal went to the hospital to see him, and the two left together.

The daily newspaper said the 57-year-old Clooney had been headed to a film set when his motorbike was hit by a vehicle. Clooney described himself as being "banged up", CNN said.

The newspaper tweeted a photo apparently from the scene, showing a lightly smashed up motorbike and auto, with a caption suggesting the vehicle had been turning and Clooney had made contact with its windscreen.

George has been working hard in the region for his new project Catch 22, with the star directing, producing and starring in the six episode miniseries based on Joseph Heller's seminal novel.
