INDIANA JONES 5 And The Brand-New 2021 Release Date

First, INDIANA JONES 5 is being pushed from the previously announced July 10, 2020 to the following summer, with a release set for July 9, 2021.

While director Steven Spielberg remains on board, screenwriter David Koepp departed to direct his own project, so Jonathan Kasdan (son of legendary Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Empire Strikes Back scribe Lawrence Kasdan) has stepped in to work on a new draft of the screenplay.

Disney announced on Tuesday some major changes to its upcoming schedule of films. Jungle Cruise will now go head-to-head with MGM's animated Addams Family, Warner Bros.' Goldfinch, Columbia's The Crow Reborn, and Paramount's Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Details on the plot for the fifth Indiana Jones film are now unknown.

Today, thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, we have a new release date - July 9th, 2021.

Photographers are reflected in the glasses of cast member Harrison Ford during a photocall for the film "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" by US director Steven Spielberg at the 61st Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France, May 18, 2008. The timing begs some questions, such as... well, hey, do we really still need to do this? As expected, Disney has once again delayed the release of the long-awaited follow-up to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in the wake of a rewrite taking place on the script. At one point, rumors even suggested that Chris Pratt was set to step into Indy's fedora, but thankfully that isn't happening, and Harrison Ford will return.
