Jose Mourinho delivers Paul Pogba verdict as France reach World Cup final

France midfielder Paul Pogba dedicated his side's World Cup 1-0 semi-final win over Belgium to the 12 Thai boys who were rescued from a flooded cave along with their coach on Tuesday.

He said he was convinced that win or lose on Wednesday, his team had a bright future after decades of English under-achievement on the worldwide stage.

"It is freaky to have Thierry against us in this match", Giroud said in a pre match press conference.

France's Aujourd'hui en France newspaper prepared a full-page spread featuring the two popular comic characters and said it was more than a match.

Asked whether being knocked out of the World Cup represented the last chance for a talented group of players who have promised much in recent years, Courtois said: "I don't know". A separate video led to a Croatian coach being sent home.

"We wanted to reach this final, and now we have made it", he told TF1. In the match, France relied on their excellent set of defenders, as Samuel Umtiti and company managed to hold the high-flying offense of Belgium scoreless.

Former champions France kicked out teams like Argentina and Uruguay in the knock-out stages whereas Belgium won an exciting game against Japan after trailing 0-2 and then booted out five-time champions Brazil in the quarters to make their second World Cup semifinal after 1986.

They will now face Croatia or England in Sunday's showdown and are likely to be heavy favourites regardless going into that match.

The result of the biggest bet taken in this World Cup could be determined as soon as Thursday.

"We had to take advantage a bit more in the counter-attacks, but congratulations to my players and my staff. We need to go out on a real high, these players deserve that".

"I am here with them today to write a new page in history, the most handsome page".
