Barcelona sanction Andre Gomes loan to Everton

The Colombia centre back had a medical in Barcelona after Everton agreed a £28 million deal with the Catalan club, who say there is a €30 million buyback clause in the deal.

Colombian International Yerry Mina is close to finalising a permanent switch to English Premier League side Everton from Barcelona. The 23-year-old is expected to sign a five-year contract.

Barcelona followed that news with confirmation that Portugal midfielder Andre Gomes would also be moving to the Goodison Park club on a season-long loan.

The 25-year-old described his spell with Barca as "a kind of hell" during a candid interview in March, adding that he does not "feel good on the pitch".

Speaking earlier this year, he admitted that criticism from supporters had knocked his confidence and left him unable to leave his house on more than one occasion.

Barca have inserted a buy-back option for the Colombian global, who caught the eye after a series of impressive performances at the Russia World Cup.

Barca had hoped to sell him permanently but initial interest from Arsenal and Valencia failed to materialise into a serious offer.

At global level, he was also part of the Brazil team who won the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup and played for his country at their home World Cup in 2014.

The Brazil global signed a four-year contract earlier today, having joined on a free transfer after leaving Shakhtar Donetsk as a free agent earlier this summer.

The attacker, who can play either on the wing or in an advanced midfield position, has earned 14 caps for Brazil, but none since starting in their shocking 7-1 defeat to Germany in the 2014 World Cup semifinals.
