Ben Schwartz Set To Voice Sonic The Hedgehog In Upcoming Movie

Schwartz will voice an animated Sonic, but considering how great his own hair is they might want to consider also having him do motion-capture to bring the blue hedgehog to life. Since then, Sonic has spawned endless video games, cartoons, and even the longest running comic book based on a video game.

Variety reports that Parks and Recreation alum Ben Schwartz has been cast as the voice of the titular character. That gives Ben Schwartz plenty of time to also land roles as the new voice of Beavis, Buster Bunny, Tommy Pickles, and Homer Simpson's trousers before we see him spin into theaters.

Paramount Pictures' live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie is moving fast and loose - in more ways than one!

While Carrey's past form in playing outrageous characters (like The Grinch, for instance) is well-documented, Schwartz has prior experience in voice-acting, now lending his larynx to Dewey Duck in the rebooted Duck Tales series on the Disney Channel and confirmed as Leonardo in the Nickelodeon's "Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles".

Schwartz is certainly an in-demand voice actor now, and perhaps not coincidentally, this facet of his career really took off after the actor lent his voice to Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Schwartz will later be seen this summer in the comedy thriller Blue Iguana.

The film will be taking a live-action/CG approach, with Marsden, Sumpter, Carrey and other actors interacting with Sonic and company in CG form.

"Magic!" Carrey shouted. "Mixed with desperation". "Mixed with desperation." So perhaps we'll be getting Carrey under a lot of prosthetic make-up as he's done before in How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. Hopefully we'll be hearing more about this perplexing movie as production continues.

Jeff Fowler (2005's Oscar-nominated Gopher Broke short) is directing Sonic the Hedgehog, with Neal H. Moritz producing and Deadpool director Tim Miller serving as executive producer with Toby Ascher.

Sonic The Hedgehog is sprinting for release on November 15, 2019.
