Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie spar over child support, house loan

Angelina Jolie on Tuesday sought to move forward with her long and sometimes bitter divorce from Brad Pitt, which has yet to be finalised after nearly two years.

In a court filing obtained by CNN on Wednesday, Pitt's attorney Lance Spiegel states that the actor loaned Jolie $8 million to purchase her current residence and paid $1.3 million in "bills" for the benefit of Jolie and their six children since their split in 2016.

According to Pitt's lawyers, Angelina Jolie's claims are "a poorly disguised effort to manipulate media coverage".

Pitt has kept a low profile in the past two years, while Jolie has recently been filming a sequel to fairytale drama Maleficent in London and directed a 2017 film about the 1970s Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia in which more than one million people died.

Jolie's attorney responded by saying that Pitt was charging Jolie interest on the loan for the new house and that the actress has had to shoulder most of the expenses for the children alone.

Another important takeaway? Jolie is seeking "retroactive child support" and asking the court to "bifurcate" their marital status, which essentially means she's seeking "single" status while the complex divorce proceedings continue to unfold.

"[Pitt] has a statutory duty to pay child support". They say her lawyers said they'd discuss the matter with their client, and then Angelina made it look like it was SHE who wanted the quickie divorce.

ET has reached out to Pitt's rep for comment.

Angelina Jolie requires a court brad pitt's "enough money" for the children.

The agreement laid out the dates where Brad would have custody of Maddox, 16, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, Vivienne, 10 and Knox, 10.

Separate sources told Page Sixthat theWorld War Z star has spent "millions for therapists" for their brood, as well as forked out for their travel expenses and round-the-clock bodyguards. Jolie Pitt now has primary custody of their children. He is going to use everything he can against her in court to insure that he gets as much custody of the kids as possible.
