Congressman Goodlatte's son rips him for 'ruining' Federal Bureau of Investigation agent's career

Blatantly anti-Trump texts sent from Strzok his girlfriend - who was also his coworker - during the 2016 campaign when he wrote how they needed to stop Donald Trump from winning the presidency.

The decision to fire Strzok should be "deeply troubling to all Americans", said his attorney Aitan Goelman.

During a congressional hearing, the 13-term congressman took Strzok to task over disparaging text messages that the Federal Bureau of Investigation agent wrote about Trump during the election.

"The decision to terminate was taken in response to political pressure, and to punish Special Agent Strzok for political speech protected by the First Amendment, not on a fair and independent examination of the facts", he said.

Strzok played an integral part in both the Hillary Clinton email investigation and what would later become the special counsel's Russian Federation probe. He lost his job despite recommendations from the FBI's Office of Professional Responsibility that he be demoted instead. The FBI had been reviewing his employment.

Since he fired FBI Director James Comey on May 9 of 2017, Trump has posted 125 Twitter messages in which he attacks and criticizes the FBI, according to the Trump Twitter Archive.

"In another text, Page wrote Strzok in August 2016: "(Trump's) not ever going to become president, right? Clinton was cleared in the probe. "No Collusion, No Obstruction - I just fight back!"

Monday, the president called for the Mueller investigation to be "properly redone" in light of Mr. Stzok's involvement.

Fitton said the Justice Department and the FBI need to examine the way the Mueller investigation has been using the evidence Strzok gathered and determine whether or not it has been used to target Trump.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee was lambasted by his own son on Twitter Monday for "ruining" Strzok's career. The younger Goodlatte also began soliciting campaign donations Sunday for the Democrat who is running to replace his father, who is retiring.
