Dead baby found on plane at LaGuardia Airport

Authorities in NY are investigating after a fetus was found in a toilet aboard an American Airlines flight at La Guardia Airport early Tuesday morning. Recent reports indicate a fetus was found inside a plane bathroom Tuesday morning.

FOX5 NY reports that the cleaning crew found the baby inside the bathroom of the plane, in the toilet.

American Airlines Flight 1942 departed from Charlotte Douglas International Airport at 9:08 p.m. Monday and arrived in Queens about 90 minutes later, according to records on FlightAware.com.

Matt Miller, a spokesperson for American Airlines told USA TODAY, the airline is cooperating with law enforcement in its investigation of "this tragic and sensitive situation".

The fetus was believed to be five or six months along.

After the aircraft - an Airbus A321 - remained on the ground overnight, a cleaning crew came on board ahead of the plane's planned Tuesday departure.

LGA tweeted about a delay due to the incident.

The Executive Director for Public Affairs in the chief medical examiner's office Aja Worthy-Davis released the following statement to WSOC.
