Dozens of fake Donald Trump stars appear on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Several fake stars bearing Donald Trump's name reportedly dotted empty spaces on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday.

The group, which includes a self-described "Rogue Right Wing street artist", told the "Hollywood Reporter" that the stickers cost $1,000 and were funded by a "young and anonymous entrepreneur".

Donald Trump's real Hollywood Walk of Fame star was recently destroyed.

However, the city council does not have jurisdiction over the Walk of Fame.

Once a star has been added to the Walk, it is considered a part of the historic fabric of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. "We thought Trump Derangement Syndrome was a joke, but I'm pretty sure it's real", the artist said of the process of placing the stars.

The stars were placed there by a conservative street artist who wishes to remain anonymous, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

On Twitter, "The Faction" issued a threat, saying that they would continue to cover the sidewalk with Trump stars, whether people like it or not.

Numerous stars, though, were peeled off during the day, with some saying that they feared vandalism if the fake stars stayed.

An employee at Ripley's Believe It or Not said they reported the incident, calling a crew tasked with cleaning graffiti and vandalism on the Walk of Fame to peel them off.

Austin Clay, 24, was charged with one felony count of vandalism over the destruction.

Trump's derisive comments about women, his policy of separating families at the border, and his denial of Russian interference in the 2016 election were also cited as reasons.

Despite Mayor Garcetti's calls, the West Hollywood City Council is still petitioning the city of Los Angeles to get rid of the symbol.

It comes after West Hollywood City Council unanimously voted in favour of permanently removing the US President's star - awarded to him in 2007 in recognition of his days as host of The Apprentice US.
