Google Nexus 5X finally receives Android 9.0 Pie via AOSP ROM

With Android 9.0 Pie, you'll get new Swipe Gesture navigation, Rotation suggestion, Adaptive Battery and Adaptive Brightness, Smart replies, App actions, Text selection, Redesigned Quick Setting tiles and Notification Panel, Redesigned Volume Options, Brand new Settings, Privacy, Digital Wellbeings (Dashboard) and Winddown Mode, and more. The game will appear in the Samsung Game Launcher and in the Galaxy Apps store.

Fortnite for Android beta is now available, but not on the Play Store. The company feels that the game is so popular that eventually Android users with compatible handsets will flock to its website to install Fortnite, even without a Play Store listing. According to the developer, this decision was made in part to bypass the 30% "store tax" that would normally be applied to purchases made on Google Play.

Malicious developers have already been targeting Android users looking to download Fortnite. Epic will also offer downloads of the game on its website in the coming days for most Android smartphones.

Google's release of Android 9 Pie yesterday brought with it the final release of an update that has been seeing steady developer preview releases for months now and while it came earlier than many had expected, it's great to see any big Android update arrive.
