Hamas vows retaliation after Israel kills two gunmen

The Israeli military said none of its troops was injured, but warned that it was prepared to "target any aggression against Israel and holds Hamas responsible for everything happening in and emanating from the Gaza Strip".

Israel has not commented on the attack yet.

At least two Palestinians were killed by Israeli gunfire in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, according to a Gaza Health Ministry spokesman.

The military said the tank responded to shots fired at soldiers from the post.

There have been reports about talks between Palestinian factions, Egypt, the United Nations and Israel to reach a long-term truce in the besieged enclave.

However, Israeli media reported that an Israeli force came under fire near the borderline in northern Gaza.

Israel's security cabinet discussed the proposal on Sunday, but afterwards ministers said only that the Israeli military was "prepared for any scenario". It then cuts to footage of a shell hitting the post and an explosion.

The two terrorists killed were identified as Ahmed Marjan and Abed al-Hafez al-Silawi, both snipers in Hamas' Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades. Sources said that Hamas is unwilling to enter into any negotiations or provide any information about the Israeli soldiers detained, agreeing only to a prisoner exchange in return for the freeing of prisoners rearrested after the Gilad Shalit deal in 2011.

Israel has lost tracts of farmland and forest to fires started by kites and helium balloons laden with incendiary material which have caused fires in Israeli forests and farmlands and flown over the border by Palestinians in Gaza.

Al-Aydi was one of four minors who died of gunshot wounds between July 27 and August 5 after Israeli forces shot them during protests on the the Gaza border.
