James Gunn's Script Will Be Used For Guardians Of The Galaxy 3

James Gunn's Script Will Be Used For Guardians Of The Galaxy 3

After firing James Gunn for a number of sickening Tweets involving pedophilia, child pornography, and molestation as well as a potential FBI investigation into possession of child pornography, a new rumor indicates Disney is also scrapping Gunn's script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Gunn, who was set to director the third installment of the popular superhero science fiction franchise, was sacked July 20 after decade-old tweets resurfaced in which he joked about topics including pedophilia and rape. And this is further complicated by the reports that Disney plans to use the script that Gunn had written for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Other now-deleted tweets from 2008-2011 included jokes about the attacks of September 11, 2001, AIDS and the holocaust. He likely won't get paid his full fee, but because Gunn reportedly didn't break his contract with Disney, a source told THR that he could be getting a payout of $10 million or more.

Disney fired Gunn, preventing him from being able to direct Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3, after a string of social media posts of his were unearthed which made light of subjects like paedophilia and rape. One of the major studios includes Warner Bros., which has poached filmmakers from Marvel before to help shepherd its struggling DC Extended Universe.

After the comments were brought to the attention of Disney, they issued the statement, "The offensive attitudes and statements on James' Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio's values, and we have severed our business relationship with him". Gunn is not permitted to entertain other offers while his negotiation with Disney is ongoing, but it sounds like he's going to have a lot of options once this ridiculous ordeal is over.

Another producer noted they can't presently speak with James Gunn until his exit from Disney is complete.

It has already been reported that Disney is "unlikely" to reinstate Gunn as director, but it remains to be seen whether Marvel would want to use Gunn's original script.
