Proud Pogba happy to repay trust as Man Utd captain

Pogba's third-minute spot-kick settled the hosts' nerves as United allayed some of the doom and gloom predicted by Mourinho after failing to land a series of targets before Thursday's transfer deadline.

Asked if he was happy and comfortable, Pogba replied: 'There are things I can not say, otherwise I will get fined'.

Pogba was pushed on his response and said that "if you're not happy, you can not give your best" when asked about what represents happiness and comfort for him. I need more changes but I couldn't.

United were not convincing as Leicester displayed wonderful creativity and had good possession throughout the first 45 minutes of the much-anticipated match.

And afterwards the new world champion vowed to always work hard "for the people that trust me".

United will head into the new Premier League campaign having failed to bring in a new centre-back, despite being frequently linked with the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Harry Maguire and Jerome Boateng.

He got that from his team's display at Old Trafford, from the way they started so well to how they saw the game out at the end.

'If you're not happy doing what you're doing, there's no point doing it, right? "Everybody was on the same page".

This could hint that Shaw will play a big part in this season, and if the backing from his once worst enemy continues, then who's to say he won't have a massive season?

"We should start the Premier League with a win and we did". It's going to be easier and it makes the team go higher. "It's a different team, obviously".

"I am someone who is not (in) a role that I give to myself". That's the way I think football is going.

Pogba was named captain for night against Leicester with Antonio Valencia sidelined with a calf injury. "That's the main thing, get the players in".

"I know that Paul doesn't resist for 90, the same with Fred".

"I find this really odd", he said. I love the club. I was meant to come inside and I managed to get in front of him [his marker] and put it in.

"It was my first goal and that is all that was important, it doesn't matter how I scored". For me, it was a dream come true.

The United board were not open to spending money on defenders that they claimed were not better than the players already in the side, which has not gone down well with Mourinho according to the Guardian. It's obviously an honour for me. "He made one mistake in 90 minutes, he was very good defensively".
