Scarlett Johansson Is The World's Highest-Paid Female Actress

Sofia Vergara has had that on lock for years, with 2017 earnings north of $41.5 million. Plus, the second part of Avengers: Infinity War is due for release next spring.

The highest paid actresses for this year have been revealed with Scarlett Johansson coming out on top.

Scarlett Johansson has topped Forbes' annual ranking of Hollywood's highest-paid actresses.

The 33-year-old actress took in US$40.5 million in pre-tax earnings from June 1, 2017, to June 1, 2018, which quadrupled her income from the previous year, according to Forbe's calculations. To date, the film has brought in over $2 billion worldwide, easily making it the highest grossing movie of the year. "But that's OK because [the actors] are the best effects". Following Jolie is Jennifer Aniston with $19.5 million, Jennifer Lawrence (undisclosed amount), and Reese Witherspoon, who pulled in $16.5 million. Jennifer Aniston sat at third place, thanks to royalties she still gets from the defunct TV series "Friends" and endorsement deals from companies like Emirates airlines.

The fourth spot went to Jennifer Lawrence, who was able to score $18 million, even after Red Sparrow and Mother! underperformed at the box office. Mila Kunis $16m7. Julia Roberts $13m8.

Angelina followed the Don Jon star closely at number two with $28 million (£25 million) for the year.

The list examined actresses the world over, including Australian Cate Blanchett (No. 8; $12.5 million) and Israeli Gal Gadot (No. 10; $10 million).

Infinity War is now available to purchase digitally as well as on Blu-ray and DVD, which will certainly add to the earnings of the blockbuster film.

While the actress has often found herself in controversy - via her Ghost in the Shell and Rub & Tug casting - Johansson's role as Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has proven to be gainful for the actress.
