‘The Romanoffs’ first footage: Matthew Weiner’s Amazon series unveils star-studded cast

Because if you sip every time someone utters the Amazon anthology's title - or every time you see a familiar, famous face - during the roughly minute-long video, you'll be on the floor before you know it.

We haven't heard much from Matthew Weiner since his acclaimed series Mad Men faded out with a Coke ad some three years ago, but he's back with Amazon's upcoming anthology The Romanoffs, the first real footage of which is above. Here We Go Again); Juan Pablo Castañeda (The Debt of Maximillian); Emily Rudd (Electric Dreams); Adele Anderson (Company Business); Annet Mahendru (The Americans); Louise Bourgoin ((I Am a Soldier); Hera Hilmar (Two Birds); and Inès Melab (Agathe Koltès).

We don't have long to wait to find out more, as the show premieres of Amazon Prime on Friday 12 October. The Romanoffs will be available initially in the original version in over 200 countries and territories, with dubbed foreign language versions coming in early 2019.

The US$50 million (RM200 million) series - shot on three continents - is written, directed and exec produced by the nine-time Emmy victor and revolves around the stories of eight separate characters who believe themselves to be descendants of the fated Russian royal family. Each story introduces a new location and a new cast of characters who believe they are a Romanoff.

According to Deadline, Hendricks and Slattery aren't the only Mad Men alum among The Romanoffs' massive, globe-trotting cast. "The casting team includes Emmy winners Carrie Audino (Mad Men) and Laura Schiff (Mad Men), as well as Kendra Shay Clark (Mad Men)".
