Tottenham make history by signing ... nobody?

No new players arrived at the club during the summer and reaction on social media amongst fans has been understandably frustrated.

The Argentine added: "We have a very good squad, we have very good players and it is not easy to add players that improve that".

That led to Spurs becoming the first Premier League club to go through a summer transfer window without additions since its introduction in 2003.

"Of course it's hard to understand for people that Tottenham didn't sign or sell players, but sometimes in football you need to behave differently". "Building a new training ground, finishing this summer the (player's) lodge was a massive investment. But when it is not possible, why create a problem that can only disturb or not help the club and your teammates?"

Toby Alderweireld, Danny Rose and Mousa Dembele could still leave in the next few weeks, but Pochettino has been able to keep hold of the likes of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Kieran Trippier.

"I think it's so hard now because it's only four hours until the end and I don't have news now", Pochettino told a news conference. There is no point talking about players at another club.

The Tottenham manager had challenged his club to be "brave and take risks" when asked what Tottenham needed to do to improve their squad.

Mauricio Pochettino has "no doubt" his Tottenham team will be stronger this season, even if the club fail to make a single signing in the summer transfer window. If we are happy with our squad and can not improve our squad, sometimes it's better to keep our squad together.

"Our targets are always in the same level of Real Madrid or Manchester United or Manchester City, but for different circumstances we can not achieve that".

"I am so happy in the way they came back", said the Argentinian. Of course, Son is an important player but it's not a drama that he's not here.

"If all the players today are thinking in a collective target, we can be competitive".
