IPhone XR: Apple unveils iPhone XR starting at £749

Design-wise, the iPhone Xr bears similarities to the iPhone Xs and Xs Max with a 6.1-inch all-screen build, slim bezels and the signature notch which incorporates Face ID and gestural navigation, but for a considerably lower price starting at $749 Dollars, and available in 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB models.

By far the biggest update to both phones however is with the camera.

The popular portrait mode, which de-focuses the background of a photo to emphasize the subject, has a new setting. The A12 Bionic processor that powers the iPhone is supposedly the real scene stealer.

According to Apple, the new chip's eight-core design allows it to complete 5 trillion operations per second, compared to 600 billion operations per second with the previous A11.

Even with all this power, Apple says the iPhone XS will last 30 minutes more, and the iPhone XS Max one and a half hours more, than the iPhone X between charges.

Apple has just announced the new iPhone XS and its bigger brother XS Max.

Demanding the style and slender bezels of the iPhone Xs, but with a budget for a less expensive device, it slots in as the entry-level option in Apple's 2018 range.

It will be available to order from 19 October, and will start shipping on 26 October.

Here's how pictures of the new iPhone XS leaked

In comparison, the starting price point for the iPhone Xs is listed at $999 USD, while the Xs Max is just one hundred dollars more, $1,099 USD, both for the 64 GB model. When Apple's online store came back online following today's keynote, a number of devices were conspicuously missing, including the iPhone SE, the iPhone 6s and the iPhone X.

Also featuring an all-screen design, it actually has a larger screen than the iPhone XS, coming up to 6.1-inches. The 6.1-inch features a bright LCD screen and comes in a variety of colors, including white, black, blue, coral and red.

Apple aficionados in the Middle East will not have long to wait before they get their hands on what the company are calling the "most lovely and advanced" iPhones.

Instead of a dual camera, the iPhone XR features a single 12-megapixel f/1.8 wide-angle lens.

They start at $599 with Global Positioning System, and $749 with Global Positioning System and cellular.

Ever since Apple ditched the headphone jack in favour of a sole Lightning connection, pushing consumers towards wireless earphones, the company has continued to bundle a free headphone adapter with all new iPhones to give users the choice.

Weighing these futuristic new features against their hefty price tags, will you be waiting in line to grab your next iPhone or Apple Watch?
