Kawhi Leonard debuts odd laugh, sidestep at Raptors intro

"I want to play here", said Leonard. "I came here with an open mind, I want to do great things", he said, but did not elaborate on what comes next.

The normally stoic forward poked fun at himself at his first media appearance as a Raptor, quipping, "I'm a fun guy". My focus is on this year and the team we hav and getting a championship.

"If you look into the future, you'll trip over the present". "Obviously I love the game of basketball", Leonard said, before he was faced with more pressing questions surrounding his impending free agency at the conclusion of this campaign - a topic that will no doubt follow Leonard and the Raptors all season.

Leonard played only nine games for the Spurs last season because of a quad injury.

While Raptors fans certainly would have loved for Leonard to say he plans on being in Toronto for the rest of his career, he was much more reserved in his response.

Leonard finally addressed the media at a jam-packed news conference, the first time he's spoken publicly since the blockbuster trade that sent DeMar DeRozan to San Antonio.

Asked his reaction to coming to Toronto, Leonard said, "Excited". "As long as I have a jersey on, I want to play basketball".

During his last two healthy seasons between 2015-16 and 2016-17, Leonard averaged 23.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.8 steals on 49-41-88 percent shooting, finishing top-3 in MVP voting both years. He puts the hours in.
