Mac Miller's friend made frantic 911 call after discovering body

The exact reason for his death and the circumstances around the tragedy are still not clear, even though initial reports suggested that it was because of a drug overdose.

The cause of Mac Miller's death is still yet to be determined.

In the heavily redacted 911 call - obtained by TMZ - a male caller can be heard pleading with the operator to get a unit to Mac's home as soon as possible.

A small amount of white powder was found and police think that the house was cleaned to remove evidence of drugs.

An unknown person called 911 after finding Miller, 26, unconscious in his home at around noon local time.

"The autopsy was completed and a cause of death has been deferred pending additional tests", Los Angeles County coroner's spokeswoman Sarah Ardalani said.

The dispatch call came in as "cardiac arrest" as it is thought the friend did not realise Mac was already dead. According to TMZ, Miller had been dead for several hours before he was discovered unresponsive inside his Southern California home on September 7.

According to The Blast, it was an assistant who discovered Miller's body after arriving to the home for work. "He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans". They were introduced by pop singer Ariana Grande. Mac had struggled with substance abuse, previously admitting he battled an addiction to lean or purple drank - a mixture of promethazine and codeine.
