Makelele: Sarri can ‘make history’ at Chelsea

Chelsea defender David Luiz has claimed that Maurizio Sarri's attitude towards life is the reason why the Italian is enjoying his time on and off the pitch.

Sarri arrived at the Stamford Bridge in July and has hit the ground running, winning all four of their league matches prior to the global break.

The 31-year-old has been forced to watch Chelsea's impressive start to the campaign from the sidelines after aggravating a knee problem in their 2-0 Community Shield defeat to Manchester City.

Chelsea have defeated Huddersfield, Arsenal, Newcastle and Bournemouth, and are one of only three teams to boast a 100 per cent record.

Indeed, the new boss was able to keep hold of all of his key players in the summer, apart from goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

But a change in manager at Stamford Bridge has seen Willian continue his career with the Blues and he has featured in all four of Chelsea's Premier League matches so far this season.

Manchester City and Liverpool are expected to challenge for the Premier League title this season, and the German midfielder can not wait to watch.

"He [Sarri] still has good players, [Eden] Hazard is there, [N'Golo] Kante is there".

Maurizio Sarri has confirmed that he has decided who will replace Gary Cahill as Chelsea captain, but opted against revealing who it will be during his pre-Cardiff City press conference. "But it's a good pressure, and I think if you don't feel this pressure you stop being the type of player to play for Chelsea. Fortunately, we have very strong young players: Loftus-Cheek, Hudson-Odoi, Ampadu. and I'd like to give them the right space".

And with no Champions League football to contend with this season, Sarri can possibly put all of his eggs into the Premier League basket.
