Hassan and Hussain Nawaz, Begum Kulsoom's sons, did not return to the country for their mother's funeral. Thousands of mourners attended the funeral of former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's wife in the eastern city of Lahore on Friday, days after she died at a hospital in London after remaining in critical condition for months.

Nawaz Sharif's sons Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz, PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif along with Ishaq Dar and Chauhdry Nisar were also in attendance.

Pakistan's jailed former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter and son-in-law were released from the high security Adiala Jail early Wednesday on parole to attend the funeral of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, who died in London.

The three-time Premier, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Mohammad Safdar, now serving prison terms on corruption charges, were granted parole by the Punjab government to attend Begum Kulsoom's funeral.

Maryam Nawaz also saw her grandmother and was seen weeping at most of the occasions as the relatives came to condole the death of her mother.

First Nimaze Janaza of the deceased will be held at 4:15 (PST) at the Central Mosque Regent Park London today while the second funeral prayer will be offered in Pakistan at 5pm at Sharif Medical City, Jatiumra. Both have been declared absconders by an accountability court in corruption cases. The body was later shifted to Jati Umra Lahore residence of the Sharif family for burial, Geo TV reported.

Sharif is unable to meet visitors arriving at Jati Umra to extend condolences as his health deteriorated on Wednesday, family sources said.

Shahbaz Sharif reach Regent Park Mosque to offer funeral prayers of Kulsoom Nawaz.

"Initially, we released them on parole for 12 hours but the application they have given to the Punjab government is for five days and we are considering it", provincial law minister Muhammad Raja Basharat said.

A number of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders and members of Pakistani diaspora attended the funeral in the British capital.
