Trump's ex-lawyer Cohen reportedly cooperating in Mueller probe

Michael Cohen has discussed President Donald Trump's dealings with Russian Federation in hours of interviews with special counsel Robert Mueller's team over the past month, ABC News reported Thursday. Investigators were also interested in whether Trump or Trump's associates discussed the possibility of a pardon for Cohen.

Cohen's tweet said no one "should question his integrity, veracity or loyalty to his family and country" over Trump.

Cohen, who pleaded guilty to fraud and campaign finance crimes last month, deleted the post within seconds, but not before it spread like wildfire across social media.

Besides securing Manafort's guilty plea to conspiracy charges and agreement to cooperate with their investigation, prosecutors wound up a case against George Papadopoulos, a former Trump campaign aide who was sentenced this month to 14 days in prison for lying to federal authorities.

Of particular interest to Mueller is Cohen's efforts to complete real estate deal for Trump Tower in Moscow during the campaign, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Cohen pleaded guilty in August to eight federal charges and said Trump directed him to arrange payments before the 2016 election to buy the silence of porn actress Stormy Daniels and a former Playboy model who had both alleged they had affairs with Trump. The New York-based lawyer traveled to Washington for at least one of the interviews with the Mueller team, one of the people said.

Prosecutors have made no promises of leniency with Cohen in exchange for his cooperation, sources told ABC News, and his interviews with the prosecutors are happening voluntarily.

Cohen did not respond to a request for comment.

The tweet was deleted nearly immediately and later reposted by Cohen's lawyer, Lanny Davis.

According to ABC News, Trump's former personal attorney and fixer has participated in multiple interviews with Mueller in recent weeks, the conversations in which "focused primarily on all aspects of Trump's dealings with Russian Federation - including financial and business dealings and the investigation into alleged collusion with Russian Federation by the Trump campaign and its surrogates to influence the outcome of the 2016 presidential election".

Cohen's cooperation agreement could pose a significant blow to the President.
