4 men killed in shooting at child's birthday party in Texas

Four men were killed when a fight between two families turned into a shootout at the birthday party for a 1-year-old in Texas, state officials said.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says the shooting happened shortly after 5pm Saturday in Taft, 19km north of Corpus Christi.

Sgt Brandley said one suspect is in custody and a second suspect has not yet been arrested.

The suspects in the shooting are 20-year-old Ronnie Rodriguez Jr.and 37-year-old Ronnie Rodriguez Sr. Sgt. Nathan Brandley says an altercation erupted between two families attending the party and escalated into a deadly shooting.

He said the three younger men were Juan Espinoza Sr.'s grandsons. He is expected to survive, Brandley said.

Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers and deputies from the San Patricio County Sheriff's Department were on the scene, KZTV10 reports.

Taft, a town of almost 3,000 people, is about 12 miles north of Corpus Christi.

On June 30 in Idaho, nine people were wounded at a 3-year-old's birthday party by a man who went on a stabbing spree.
