Astros Suspected of Cheating In ALCS, ALDS

Passan also cited sources pointing to a couple incidents of the Astros sign-stealing and relaying signals to hitters, including during last year's World Series against the Dodgers.

The Red Sox Game 3 win in Houston lasted almost four hours, which is long for a baseball game, although postseason contests are often so lengthy.

The Houston Astros, like many Machado, are doing everything possible in the last two days or so to ruin their reputation.

Major League Baseball has looked into allegations that suggest the Astros potentially cheated during Game 1 of the ALCS vs. the Red Sox, but does not consider it to be a major matter, according to MLB Network's Joel Sherman. Whether he'll start Game 5 of the AL Championship Series remains to be seen.

On Wednesday, MLB issued a statement saying its department of investigations determined "that an Astros employee was monitoring the field to ensure that the opposing club was not violating any rules".

Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported the Cleveland Indians filed a complaint with Major League Baseball regarding the Astros trying to film the inside of their dugout during Game 3 of the ALDS.

According to Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com, an employee of the Astros, holding a cellphone camera, was removed twice by security from the photographer's pit next to the Indians' dugout during Game 3 on October 8. The employee, reported by Yahoo's Jeff Passan to be Kyle McLaughlin, was said to be pointing a small camera into the Boston dugout. "So I mean we do a good job changing sequences and paying attention to details".

Cora said he has been concerned throughout the season about Red Sox signs being stolen. We try to slow it down. "If we feel there's something going on, we switch signs".

But the Astros may be the first team to ever get away with the "we were spying to make sure they weren't spying" excuse. "I'm anxious about the game".

After being asked about the man claiming to be an Astros' employee and the warning given to the Red Sox, an Indians spokesman said via email on Tuesday, "We are not going to comment on this situation".

Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer went on Twitter earlier this season and intimated that Houston's pitchers were possibly using pine tar to improve the rate of spin on pitches.

Cora said before the game that Sale, the potential starter Thursday night, might throw a bullpen during Game 3. Bauer didn't provide any specifics but his insinuations triggered a social-media storm, which included responses from several Astros players, including pitchers Lance McCullers Jr. and Collin McHugh.
