Conor McGregor shows admiration for compatriot Katie Taylor after dominant title defence

Katie Taylor has successfully defended her world titles against Cindy Serrano.

.

Compatriot McGregor watched from ringside and visited Taylor's dressing room before and after the fight to show his support.

Eddie Hearn, who promotes Taylor, is more than willing to match her against Serrano next. I expected a lot more from Cindy Serrano today, I thought she was very negative right from the start and quite defensive. But her utter reluctance to engage in any meaningful competitive manner with the unbeaten Taylor left the champion and the expectant attendance of 6,840 deeply frustrated.

Conor McGregor has called on Katie Taylor's promoters to realise her value and secure her big-money fights.

"I'm here for you Katie, just you!"

She landed several eye-catching left hooks flush during the fight, but Serrano - who has never been stopped in her professional career - proved her toughness by remaining upright and surviving the 10 rounds. A bit of showboating is OK to do every now and again I guess, especially when there is no risk of anything really coming back.

"I think I did a few things very well, and I take a lot of positives from beating a veteran like Cindy".

"I'm looking to get back in of course, see what happens but obviously there's stuff with the Nevada Athletic Commission so we'll make a judgement on that and then we'll go from there". It's an honour for me to come here and see you, you're an Irish hero. At one point in the seventh round Taylor even dropped her hands and goaded her opponent in as a demonstration of how easy she was finding it. It's also possible she fights the following week inside London's O2 Arena. "I would absolutely love that fight".
