Jimmy Butler Swore At Timberwolves GM, Challenged Teammates At Heated Practice

I have heard from people around the league that Tucker is not available in the deal, Houston knows it lost a lot of defense this off-season (Trevor Ariza, Luc Mbah a Moute) and doesn't feel it can give more away, even in a Butler trade (Butler absolutely would help their wing defense).

Butler's preferred trade destination is the Miami Heat, but talks between the two sides have broken down.

A combative Jimmy Butler returned to practice with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday and challenged his teammates and coaching staff, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Proposed changes from Minnesota created a breakdown in earlier trade negotiations just as the teams were close to finalizing a deal.

So where do we stand in the Jimmy Butler trade saga seven days from opening night?

Barring a change in the dwindling trade market between now and the season opener in San Antonio on October 17, the Timberwolves are making preparations to start the season with Butler on the roster, league sources said... Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor took a different stance and told owners owners at the National Basketball Association board of governors meetings that "Butler is available, and prospective suitors should contact Taylor himself", according to Wojnarowski. "Butler has told Minnesota that he'll leave in free agency in July - and wants a trade now". The Athletic made the outlook of a trade sound grim, however. According to Krawczyinski, Minnesota is "making preparations to start the season with Butler on the roster".

A couple of Butler's teammates were particularly vague when asked about Butler's level of participation in practice on Wednesday.

Butler was reportedly vociferous and emotional at times in targeting Tom Thibodeau, Scott Layden, Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins. "You can't win without me".
