Netflix Renews Disenchantment for Two More Seasons

Here's some enchanting news for you Disenchantment fans out there: Netflix has picked up the Matt Groening-created animated series for two more seasons.

Netflix originally ordered 20 episodes of Disenchantment, broken into a 10-episode freshman season that premiered on August 17 and a 10-episode sophomore run that's set to hit the streaming site sometime in 2019. "Stay tuned for more cranked-up suspense, infuriating plot twists, and beloved characters getting knocked off", said The Simpsons creator, Matt Groening. So the streaming service will be in the Matt Groening business for the next few years at least.

The kingdom of Dreamland will remain open. Additional voices include Futurama vets John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille and David Herman.

The first season of Disenchantment arrived on Netflix this summer and followed the adventures of a hard-drinking princess named Bean, a disillusioned elf named Elfo and a smart-mouthed demon named Luci. However, he has taken time to work on other projects every now and again. Not to mention that the show can't go on forever. Well, whatever we want to call it, it looks like we'll be seeing a lot of Disenchantment in the future.

The new series is Groening's first in 20 years, after the releases of both THE SIMPSONS and FUTURAMA, of course. Where The Simspons and Futurama are nearly entirely episodic comedies, the Netflix format allowed Groening and his writing team to give Disenchamnet a serialized story arc that will continue into future seasons.
