New Nightmare King Sandwich Coming To Burger King On October 22, 2018

The "Nightmare King" isn't just a seasonal name thrown on Burger King's latest burger.

To prove that the sandwich causes nightmares, Burger King partnered with the Paramount Trials and Florida Sleep & Neuro Diagnostic Services and branding firm Goldforest on a study conducted over 10 nights.

Are you fearless enough to face your nightmares? It's all pretty basic sleep science, stacked on a green bun and served along with some impressive marketing to appeal to those who live for the spirit of Halloween. It is also "clinically proven to induce nightmares".

But here's the kicker: What is the Nightmare King, you might ask? After eating the Nightmare King before bed, doctors and scientists monitored everyone's brain activities and found that they were 3.5 times more likely to have vivid dreams.

The Nightmare King, announced by the fast food chain on Monday, features a green bun, a quarter-pound of beef, a crispy chicken fillet, melted American cheese, thick-cut bacon, mayonnaise and onions on a glazed green sesame seed bun, according to PEOPLE.

"According to previous studies, 4 percent of the population experiences nightmares in any given night", the study's lead doctor said in a statement obtained by the national newspaper chain.

Burger King is building off prior successes with novelty menu items to draw interest around the Halloween season.

In time for Halloween, the fast-food chain releases its "Nightmare King" in the United States on Monday, which will be available through November 1 at participating locations nationwide. If you were planning on eating a combination of three meats before bed, heck, you might as well do it in this convenient burger form, right?
