Orange Is the New Black Ending With Season 7

This is likely for the best, as the prison dramedy has run out of steam at this point. "I haven't made a final decision yet, but I'm leaning toward ending it after seven", Kohan told The New York Times previous year, mentioning that she had a series ending in mind. The series was an early hit for Netflix when the streaming service began showing original programming.

The finale, 2019 season dates have not been announced yet.

While fans will no doubt be sad to see the show go, the timing is right.

'The final season is coming, ' said Schilling, who plays protagonist Piper in the groundbreaking prison series. "Let's go out on top!" As part of the deal, series showrunner Jenji Kohan will remain in that role through Season 7.

"Jenji and her team have produced a phenomenal and impactful series that is both amusing and dramatic, outrageous and heartfelt".

Orange Is the New Black is quickly approaching the end of the line, and the cast is pretty emotional about it.

"Three more years! Not quite a political term, but still plenty of time to do some interesting things". I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. "Season 7 you will not be disappointed, it is a season you will not forget, and we are going to give you everything and more that you could have ever wanted".

Now we can confirm that the series is indeed ending.

Over the years, the cast of OITNB has also included Ruby Rose, Taryn Manning, Dascha Polanco, Laverne Cox, Selenis Leyva, Yael Stone, Jackie Cruz, Laura Gomez, Jessica Pimentel, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Nick Sandow, Alyssa Reiner, Matt Peters, Emma Myles, Matt McGorry, Jason Biggs and Beth Dover.

Created by Jenji Kohan (Weeds) and based on the memoir by Piper Kerman, Orange Is the New Black follows the semi-fictionalized adventures of Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), who gets sent to a women's prison after being convicted of a decade old crime.
