Social media makes a mockery of Trump painting

President Trump's contentious "60 Minutes" interview has drawn its fair share of attention, especially for a odd painting that hangs in the White House.

Thomas explained Trump was a "challenge to paint", because "even though he tans, he's a fair - has a fair complexion and no deep recesses".

The artist who painted a kitsch picture of Donald Trump grinning at a table with past Republican presidents including Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan and both Bushes said he is "astounded" that it's now hanging in the White House - but that he's "rooting for" Trump.

For President Donald Trump, that fictional "happy hour" exists, in the form of a painting hanging at the White House that caused a huge uproar on social media when it was revealed over the weekend.

The portrait was spotted in an image tweeted by 60 Minutes before their report featuring an interview of President Trump by reporter Lesley Stahl.

Although art aficionados might wince when gazing at the White House's newest wall decor, there's more going on in this painting than meets the eye at first glance.

If you look closely at the screenshot 60 Minutes shared, there is also a bowl of Starburst candy near the photo.

A post on Thomas' website said the painting had a "subtle feminist message" because there is a woman in the background walking toward the table.

Trump, however, seems to be sporting a soda, as he does not drink. "As I was doing the painting, I was thinking that these guys are kind of intimidating in a way". Trump was so enamored of Issa's gift, he called the artist, Andy Thomas, to tell him how much he liked it. "He was very complimentary". "He made a comment that he'd seen a lot of paintings of himself and he rarely liked them".

The Republican presidents are portrayed sitting in a private club.

Here's to hoping he's right-and that Trump would offer her a Diet Coke.

President Donald Trump said migrant families may think twice about illegally crossing the USA border from Mexico if they fear they'll be separated by the U.S. government, suggesting he's rethinking a policy abandoned in July after widespread public condemnation.
