Titanic II to set sail in 2022, resuming route of original ship

Titanic II was put on hold in 2015 over the non-payment of hundreds of millions of royalties owed by China to companies owned by Palmer. The vessel will be the flagship of the proposed cruise company Blue Star Line.

The launch date for the ship had now been moved from 2018 to 2022, meaning she will be launched exactly 110 years after the original RMS Titanic, Cruise Arabia & Africa reports.

The idea to build the Titanic once more popped into the head of Clive Palmer, an Australian politician and businessman with enough money and time on his hands to dream stuff like this up, way back in 2012. But the visionary he is, Palmer is already planning the first trip.

The Titanic sank in the North Atlantic Ocean after colliding with an iceberg in April of 1912. It will take 2400 along the original ill-fated route, plus 900 crew members - nearly the exact number to the original ship's passenger count. It will be crewed by 900 personnel (892 in 1912).

After the ship travels the historical Titanic Southampton-New York route in the summer, the Titanic II will call Dubai its regular port.

The ship will provide guests with an authentic Titanic experience offering the same interiors and cabin layout as the original ship with the addition of modern safety procedures. Yes, you read that right-there's going to be a Titanic II, and it's scheduled to set sail in 2022, per USA Today.
