Verne Troyer’s Cause of Death Revealed

Following an autopsy and further tests, the Los Angeles county department of medical examiner-coroner said Troyer died on 21 April from the effects of alcohol.

The report concluded that Troyer's death was caused by "sequelae of alcohol intoxication".

When Verne Troyer died unexpectedly in April, there was speculation it was a suicide - and now the L.A. coroner's report confirms it. The star was hospitalized on April 3 for reported alcohol intoxication and had struggled with alcohol abuse and depression in his past.

He also portrayed a goblin in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and had roles in movies including The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and The Love Guru.

"As you know, I've battled alcohol addiction in the past and while it's not always been an easy fight, I'm willing to continue my fight day by day", he told People magazine at the time.

After his hospitalisation past year, he was candid about his drinking problem, saying he had followed up with a stint at a rehab centre.

The post added: "Depression and suicide are very serious issues".

'Over the years he's struggled and won, struggled and won, struggled and fought some more, but unfortunately this time was too much'.

Troyer's social media posts during this time, however, painted an entirely different picture of the actor. "Verne was an extremely caring individual".

"He wanted to make everyone smile, be happy, and laugh", his family said in an April statement announcing his death.

At the time, Troyer's team released a statement asking fans to "keep Verne in your thoughts and prayers". In May, Myers teared up remembering his friend during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
