Blizzard Is Working on Mobile Titles Across Multiple Franchises

Strangely, a recent Kotaku report suggests the studio may have been planning some kind of teaser announcement video for Diablo 4 before deciding to hold it.

The news that Blizzard is revisiting the classic real-time strategy aspects of the Warcraft franchise years after pivoting to MMO with the wildly successful World of Warcraft was enough to fuel speculation that a fourth installment in the series might be underway.

Some fans are anxious about the statement claiming that "many of our best developers now working on new mobile titles" may take away from PC and console titles. Diablo Immortal Reveal was a nightmare for the company but somehow they had it coming and now they are surely some regrets.

Blizzard has been vocal about having multiple Diablo projects in the works, but we don't know whether or not Immortal is an indication of the future of the series. "We do continue to have different teams working on multiple unannounced Diablo projects, and we look forward to announcing when the time is right", said the company, in a statement.

The video game's trailer on YouTube racked up more than 2.9 million views in the last three days, however more than 431,000 viewers elected to dislike the video compared to 16,000 likes.

The backlash is, to a degree, an anger I understand. The magnitude of the Diablo Immortal reveal's negativity has escalated much bigger than necessary, but even though that's the case, the response from Blizzard needs to be elevated, too. Though, notably, there was a time when Diablo 3 coming to console sounded like a awful idea to this same community, and it ended up being one of the best places to play it.

"In terms of Blizzard's approach to mobile gaming, many of us over the last few years have shifted from playing primarily desktop to playing many hours on mobile, and we have many of our best developers now working on new mobile titles across all of our IPs", Adham said. Forcing developers to rush the timeline of a game never helps anything, but those studios have proved even just an unfinished logo is enough. "The most risky thing you can do in life is play it safe". "In the end, Diablo Immortal is going to fulfil that, and we think that people are going to experience it, and we think they're going to love it".
