Xiaomi launches in United Kingdom with new Mi 8 Pro

Xiaomi is steadily becoming one of the world's most important smartphone brands, and on November 8, the company announced that it's officially expanded to the United Kingdom. This comes just days after Xiaomi had confirmed that photography features of the Mi Mix 3 would trickle down to the Mi 8 and the Mi Mix 2S. You can clearly see the NFC sensor, the large carbon-fibre wrapped battery cell and even the Snapdragon chip at the top of the phone.

The front of the phone is less striking, with a very familiar look - meaning a relatively wide notch and a small chin at the bottom of the phone, like nearly every other Android phone to launch this year.

The phone features a 6.21-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with screen resolution of 2248 x 1080 pixels.

There are red accents to the design around the camera and on the power button too.

For exmaple, the Redmi 6 with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of inbuilt storage and a dual-camera with 12MP and 5MP sensors will drop from £149 to £129. Xiaomi will be opening a dedicated storefront for its products in the Westfield shopping center in London which not only includes both Mi 8 smartphones, but will also have headphones, computer accessories, and more on hand. The two new phones will become the latest addition to the Mi 8 family here alongside the titular model which was launched in Malaysia back in August.

Specifically the Mi A2 and Mi 8 Lite are the ones going for the obscenely low price. It will be available from November 9 via Three, Amazon, Argos, John Lewis, Carphone Warehouse, Currys PC World, Very, Mobile Phones Direct, Katana and Mi.com/UK.

The company also revealed you'll be able to buy the Xiaomi Mi Band 3 from a variety of third-party retailers.

As for Mi 8 Lite, the 4GB/64GB variant will be made available for RM 999 through Mi Official Store on Shopee starting from 10 November.

'Thursday's launch marks the arrival of a significant new kid on the block, and there is no doubt that in finally coming to the UK, Xiaomi means business'.
