Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ now receiving Android Pie internationally

The company has confirmed the roadmap for the Android 9 Pie update for a couple of devices.

"One UI brings you Android Pie, with exciting new features and a whole new look and feel based on user feedback from users in Samsung and Google", the release notes state.

Other than Germany, the new update is also rolling out in Switzerland, Italy and in the UAE.

Besides bringing the brand new One UI interface, along with goodness of Android Pie, the update features like the ability to reply to messages right from the notification panel, image thumbnails in messages, Samsung keyboard with Unicode 11 emojis, and more. The South Korean smartphone manufacturer, however, has said that Android 9 Pie software update rollout will happen initially only in select regions.

After the update, the software version on the Galaxy S9 Plus will change to G965FXXU2CRLI, whereas for the Galaxy S9, it will change to G960FXXU2CRLI. The update should be available all over the globe by January 2019. The Galaxy S8 and S8+ will come next in March, along with the Note 8, while the Galaxy A8/A8+, A7 2018, A9 2018 and Galaxy Tab S4 10.5 will get the update in April. Once the flagship smartphones are updated, Samsung will start pushing the update for its mid-range devices. However, Galaxy Tab S3 9.7, Galaxy Tab A 2017, Galaxy Tab Active2 and Galaxy Tab A 10.5 owners will have to wait until October 2019.
