The Los Angeles Sparks are reportedly going to hire Derek Fisher as their next head coach, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Derek Fisher has a new coaching gig, and this time he'll be in a familiar setting.

Some 35 months since coaching his last National Basketball Association game Fisher has resurfaced in Los Angeles now hoping to revitalize a coaching career that went from promising to punchline in a NY minute. "There is no finer organization in the WNBA and I can't wait to work with our ownership group, front office, talented players and staff to cement a culture of sustained excellence, which is what LA basketball fans demand - and deserve".

"Derek is a great basketball mind who brings a ton of high-level experience to our team", Parker said.

When Jackson was hired by the Knicks, the former Lakers and Bulls coach called upon Fisher to be his head coach. He was hired in 2014, but was sacked less than two seasons into a five-year deal.

On Friday, it was announced that former Sparks coach Brian Agler resigned after leading the franchise for four seasons. The Knicks were a combined 40-96 with Fisher as head coach.

Agler had previously led the Sparks a WNBA championship in 2016.
