Ubisoft has Just Teased a New Far Cry Game

However, given that the event doesn't start until tomorrow, the company has chose to publish a brief teaser trailer to get its fans hyped about what is clearly a new Far Cry title. That wouldn't be quite as exciting as an entirely new Far Cry title (especially one which serves as a direct sequel to the previous game!), but whatever: we're still very intrigued by the idea of a post-apocalyptic Far Cry, if that's what this is.

If you haven't yet played Far Cry 5 and don't want to spoil the ending, you're going to want to avoid Ubisoft's tease for a Far Cry announcement that's coming during tomorrow Game Awards. Spoilers for Far Cry 5 follow.

Interesting stuff! The bucolic country setting seen at the beginning of the trailer strongly suggests the next Far Cry will take place on an atom-bomb-altered version of Far Cry 5's Montana map.

At the end of the clip we see a character lifting some sort of makeshift buzzsaw-crossbow combination. All the games have been standalone experiences. Plus, The Game Awards' Geoff Keighley basically confirmed as much in a response to someone on Twitter. In the interim, Ubisoft has published a brief teaser giving us a glimpse of the game's post-apocalyptic theme. We'll report more on this new project when it is formally revealed at The Game Awards tomorrow night.
