Alleged Nokia 8.1 Plus renders reveal display hole and dual cameras

This could be the same hole-punch display that was featured in recently-leaked Nokia 8.1 Plus renders. With a successor likely on the horizon, Twitter account Nokia Leaks published what could be the successor's specifications.

After Samsung and Huawei, HMD Global is set to be the the next mainstream brand to bring out a phone with a hole in the display to house the selfie camera. Notch designs would cut out a big chunk of the display for camera placement, but most of those cutouts were bigger than they needed to be (probably because manufacturers wanted to copy the sensor-packed iPhone X design). Leaked marketing materials showed that the company would be re-branding this specific device with a new name and using it for the Android One program. It shows the edge-to-edge display of the alleged Nokia 8.1 Plus with a hole in the display on the top left corner like the Galaxy A8s. The Nokia phone is also rendered with a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top and volume and power buttons on the right side of the frame. There is also a USB Type-C port at the bottom, in between the speakers and microphone.

Nokia 8 Sirocco users using Android 9 Pie will enjoy improvements to their smartphone experience based on their daily phone use. OnLeaks, together with 91Mobiles, leaked the handset by sharing renders and a 360-degree video.

Photography-wise, the Nokia 8.1 features a 1/.55-inch 1.4um 12MP sensor on its back that is also equipped with optical image stabilization and ZEISS optics alongside another 13MP sensor.
