The HSE have revealed how many people have died due swine flu

The release advises members of the public to be aware of reports circulating on social media that are created to dissuade persons from taking the flu shot.

On average, between 60 and 120 deaths are recorded during the flu season.

With the flu potentially hitting a high-water mark for the season, doctors still urge people to get a flu shot to avoid more serious illnesses caused by the flu like pneumonia.

In the backdrop of rising swine flu deaths in the state, the Uttarakhand health department on Wednesday constituted a six-member team to conduct audit of the deaths.

The newspaper reported a spokesperson for the Health Ministry that "influenza cases for this season were influenza types A subtypes H1N1 and H3". The number of patients tested positive of swine flu is 10.

According to an influenza update released by WHO on 7 January, the vast majority of influenza viruses tested in laboratories around the world were of type A. Furthermore, WHO said that up to 77% of influenza type A viruses were of the H1N1 sub-type. The agency says the vaccine is most important for older people, children and people with health complications, such as diabetes, asthma, obesity and heart disease, because people with chronic health problems are more susceptible to flu-related complications.
