And the Jeff Bezos dick pic commentary has begun

The couple, who have been married for 25 years, disclosed their separation just before The Enquirer published an article exposing that Mr Bezos was having an affair with Ms Sanchez, a former television host who is also married.

In another email dated February 6, Fine asked Bezos and his attorney to publicly refute the Post's reporting and announce "that they have no knowledge of basis for suggesting that American Media Inc.'s coverage was politically motivated of influencer by political forces, and an agreement that they will cease referring to such a possibility".

Mr de Becker proceeded to tell the media that the leak was politically motivated, which, according to Mr Bezos's blog post on Thursday, concerned AMI.

Soon after, Bezos initiated an investigation "to learn how those texts were obtained, and to determine the motives for the many unusual actions taken by the Enquirer", he wrote in the Medium post.

Mr Bezos' online post details a stunning and weird clash between the world's richest man and the nation's biggest tabloid publisher.

"Rather than capitulate to extortion and blackmail", he wrote in a blog post on Medium, the executive published emails they sent proposing a "completely confidential" agreement. He posted an email from Dylan Howard, the chief content officer at AMI, which outlined in detail the photographs they allegedly have in their possession. Trump called Bezos "Jeff Bozo" in a tweet last month about the National Enquirer's coverage of his divorce.

AMI, the company that owns the National Enquirer is now feeling the heat from Justice Department investigations into potential corruption related to AMI CEO David Pecker's close ties with Donald Trump and the Saudi government.

The tabloid magazine released an investigation into Bezos' relationship with Lauren Sanchez (pictured in the gallery alongside Bezos and ex-husband Patrick Whitesell) back in January. AMI and its owner, David Pecker, have been accused of buying salacious stories about Donald Trump and killing them so they can't harm the president. "I prefer to stand up, roll this log over, and see what crawls out".

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Bezos says the Enquirer's parent company tried to get him to agree to a deal for the tabloid not to publish the explicit photos.

His personal investigators, led by his longtime security consultant, Gavin de Becker, concluded that Bezos' phone wasn't hacked.

Bezos usually stays out of the public eye, frequently delegating announcements and public Amazon business updates to his executives.

-With a file from Reuters and the Associated Press. The company has been cooperating with investigators in the Southern District of NY ever since it admitted to making a $150,000 "catch-and-kill" payment to rid of a story about an alleged affair Trump had with former Playboy model Karen McDougal. "Alleged conduct like this puts them in the position to rethink that deal and potentially turn around and have to prosecute AMI, and that undermines their ability to continue to use them to assist other ongoing investigations".

He added, "At an extreme level, this shows how frightening it should be to the citizens of the United States that the National Enquirer reportedly has a safe full of information about the president of the United States".
