Groundhog Day 2019: Shadow or no shadow?

Groundhog Day 2019: Shadow or no shadow?

Handlers for Pennsylvania's most famous prognosticating groundhog say he didn't see his shadow when the sun rose Saturday.

Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son is a "virtual reality adventure game" coming to major virtual reality platforms, including PlayStation Virtual Reality, later this year.

The Groundhog Day traditions were observed as usual in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania on Saturday, despite the temperature of 2 degrees Fahrenheit.

If he sees his shadow, he'll run back into the burrow, which means winter will be sticking around for another month and a half, but if he doesn't, he'll remain outside, signaling that spring is on the horizon!

Hollywood loves few things more than belated sequels and reboots, but they haven't gotten around to making another Groundhog Day.

This is only the 19th occasion in which Phil has not been able to see his shadow since 1887.

It's celebrated across North America, but in Punxsutawney they have a much more specific tradition. The usual lifespan for a groundhog is around six years. The following year brought the first official trek to Gobbler's Knob to get Phil's prediction.

NOAA has said that Punxsutawney Phil has "no predictive skill," and has been accurate 40 percent of the time. In the event, winter continued longer than six weeks, with a nor'easter slamming New York City on March 21, 2018.

After the ceremony, people commonly have a meal and drink their own version of groundhog punch; a delightful mixture of vodka, milk, eggs, and orange juice. Like Murray in the film, you'll be tasked with breaking the time-loop cycle to escape into tomorrow.
