Oscars season is almost upon us and after much speculation over who will be presenting perhaps the biggest awards-show of the year, the names have finally been announced.

The 91st Oscars will be held LIVE SUNDAY FEBRUARY 24 8e|5p on ABC.

Actor and comedian Kevin Hart was forced to step down in December on account of backlash he receieved over a series of homophobic tweets he made in 2009.

Despite the unconventional setup this year, Academy CEO Dawn Hudson called it an "important moment in Oscar history".

"I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year's Oscar's.this is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many fantastic talented artists", he tweeted, just two days after being announced as host.

He said: "I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year's Oscar's... this is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many fantastic talented artists".

"After that, it was pretty clear that we were going to stay the course", she explained.

Oscars 2019 which is one of the highly anticipated awards show has recently made the announcement of the first batch of celebrity presenters at the upcoming event. Audiences have dropped in recent years with the 2018 show attracting just 26.5 million viewers, the smallest number ever.

She added the Oscar nominee luncheon on Tuesday "was a very exciting room to be in".

Burke noted that three of the other best picture nominees - Disney's Black Panther, Warner Bros A Star is Born and 21st Century Fox musical Bohemian Rhapsody - had each taken in more than $200 million at the North American box office alone. "It's fascinating. We're going to see a big turnout for this because these are big, popular movies who are being nominated".
