Julian Edelman has gnarly playoff beard shaved off for charity

Ellen eventually got Edelman to agree to the beard shaving by saying she would donate $10,000 to the Boys & Girls Club if he let her break out the razor.

Through the miracle of television, there was already a barber's chair, cape with the Patriots' logo and clippers waiting to be rolled out in front of the audience.

It's a curious pledge - "It'll never happen again" - in a situation in which Edelman also said he "really [doesn't] know what happened".

Before going to work she asked Edelman if he had any last words for his beard - he did: "I love you beard, it's been a hell of a year". "This is what I sacrificed all my time for - my friends, my family, everything like that", Edelman explained. "I apologize. It'll never happen again".

While this latest victory is still very fresh, it hasn't taken Belichick long to make what feels like a yearly update to something special in his life: renaming his fishing boat to show off his latest title.

New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman let his beard grow full and gnarly during the football season, but with the year done the Super Bowl LIII MVP was persuaded into taking it off - for a good cause. Edelman was named the Most Valuable Player.

Belichick has this thing that he says: 'Put everything in the drawer and [don't] worry about it until it's done.

"Eating is a nightmare", Edelman told Ellen of his unruly beard. He is more hesitant to speak about this season's first four games, in which he did not play because of a PED suspension that he will not (and not cannot) explain. Ellen said it was delivered to the show to give to him. Ellen shaved it off.
