All Charlotte Russe stores to close; liquidation sales starting immediately

In February the company announced it was filing for bankruptcy and closing almost 100 stores. Sale starts March 7.

Charlotte Russe has stores in 49 states and Puerto Rico.

Since the February 3 announcement that the company was filing for Chapter 11, the company has been in talks with prospective buyers to avoid a liquidation of all of the company's assets. In the court filing, the company said it "suffered from a dramatic decrease in sales and in-store traffic" and struggled with "the burden of maintaining a large brick-and-mortar presence". Other brands, including most recently Family Dollar, have been able to stay afloat, but are paring down locations.

The business had 8,700 employees, with only 1,400 being full-time, at the time they filed for bankruptcy. The company also established Peek Kids in 2016, specializing in children's clothing.

The young women's fashion chain posted a note on its website announcing the online store had closed and that a going-out-business sale would begin at all stores.
