Apple expected to announce new streaming TV service at March 25 event

Get ready for Apple's iPad lineup to expand once more, with Apple bringing new sizes to its tablet family.

Most probably, Apple's "yet to be named" video streaming service will contain content that's already available on similar services, as well as original content as the tech giant spent more than $1 billion on original shows and signed big Hollywood stars like Steve Carrell and Jennifer Garner.

In its invitation, Apple did not specify the focus of the event and gave a single-line description: "It's show time".

Meanwhile, Apple is still in talks with AT&T, who now owns HBO, as well as CBS and its Showtime network, and Lions Gate's Starz premium cable channel, among others.

Apple, which recently stopped disclosing iPhone unit sales data, is increasingly trying to turn investors toward the long-term value of its services ecosystem.

That's undoubtedly a very small compromise to make for huge savings on powerful tablets packing Apple A10X processors, with attractive Retina displays also in tow, not to mention excellent battery life, premium sound technology, and surprisingly capable cameras.

Not surprisingly, the report also confirms that Netflix and Hulu will not be on board, simply because they prefer to have control over the user experience and access to subscriber data. Apple's App Store, where the service is likely to be distributed, is now available in more than 100 countries. While there has been much talks about it launching a TV streaming and Apple News subscription services, reports suggest the company might unleash a couple of hardware including revamped AirPods, a new entry-level iPad, and the long-delayed AirPower wireless charging pad.
