Eder Militao signs for Real Madrid from Porto

On Thursday they announced the signing of 21-year-old Militao, who will join from Porto in a €50million (£43m) deal in the summer.

Real Madrid have confirmed their first signing of Zinedine Zidane's second spell in charge of the club, as Eder Militao has agreed to join the club from FC Porto.

Militao has signed a six-year deal at the Bernabeu, with Madrid confirming he has committed his future to the club until 2025.

"He has been named the best defender in the league for the last five months in a row".

The 21-year-old central defender is comfortable at right-back and in midfield and has been courted by a host of Europe's elite but Los Blancos have acted swiftly to secure the signature of the highly-rated Brazilian talent.

The €50m fee represents a huge profit for Porto, who signed Militao from Brazilian club Sao Paolo last summer for just over £6m.

Zidane completed his return to Real Madrid as manager earlier this week, replacing the axed Santiago Solari.

The defender has made one appearance for Brazil and can play at centre back, full back or defensive midfield. It stands out for its speed, placement and ability to anticipate.

He has enjoyed considerable success in that role before and will be hoping to see Militao help to deliver more once welcomed into the Real fold.
