Miami Dolphins trade Ryan Tannehill to Titans for draft picks

The news was announced on Twitter by Tannehill's agents at SportsTrust Advisors. Miami will receive a fourth-round pick in 2020 and a seventh-rounder in 2019, while sending Tannehill and a 2019 sixth-round pick to the Titans.

Tannehill's deal reportedly reaches $12 million when playtime and other incentives are taken into consideration.

The Dolphins spoke with quarterback Tedddy Bridewater, but were unable to come to a deal.

Now we're left to wonder exactly what their plan is at the position. That is, in case you're new here, not ideal. He also ranks second all-time on Miami's career passer rating list, behind only Pennington (94.5) and ahead of Dan Marino (86.4).

Tannehill was drafted by the Dolphins in the first round of the 2012 draft.

It's going to be hard for them to find a starting quarterback who can really help them compete in what is becoming an increasingly hard division.

For the Titans, this is a high-end move but a smart one.

A fresh start, though, could work out for Tannehill, who turns 31 on July 27, as he won't have the pressure typically associated with a starting quarterback.

His time with the Dolphins was marred by mediocrity and injuries. Now the Titans have multiple options, both for the short- and long-term.
